ILHAM MINDA 156
LUBUK AKAL TEPIAN ILMU
BERAGIH RASA BERALIH KATA
(Short saying drawn from long experience)
(One man’s wit is all men’s wisdom)
41
Jika terasa kelu hati berbisik-bisik dan
jika terasa rindu mata melirik-lirik.
42
Hati terkenang air mata berlinang dan
hati terguris air mata menitis.
43
Jauh dirindu dekat disayang dan jauh
dirayu dekat ditimang.
44
Tak dajar jika besar jadi liar dan tak di-
nasihat jika besar jadi jahat.
45
Tak diasuh kalau besar tak patuh dan
tak dinasihat kalau besar tak taat.
46
Yang ambil cakna suka bertanya dan
yang ambil hal suka menyoal.
47
Yang tak ambil hal buat hal dan yang
tak ambil kisah buat masalah.
48
Yang patuh takkan terpengaruh dan
yang taat takkan bersubahat.
49
Yang baik nama disebut-sebut teta-
pi yang jelik nama dicarut-carut.
50
Lain digali lain pula ditimbus dan
Lain dibeli lain pula ditebus.
